Be an Archaeologist with Roman Town!

Bring History to life with the award-winning Roman Town: the game that lets you be an archaeologist. This truly unique and innovative educational computer game turns players into real archaeologists while immersing them in ancient history. Created by a professional archaeologist and teacher, Roman Town brings history to life in a way no book or board game can.  Roman Town is more than a game: it is a hands-on learning experience that emphasizes player-driven learning, reading comprehension, problem-solving and analytical thinking.

The science of archaeology provides the framework for an in-depth study of Roman daily life.  Students learn the methodology of excavation by managing a team of diggers and directly excavating important Roman artifacts.  Players are required to sort and classify their finds in the lab and complete a report summarizing their discoveries.  Students reconstruct rare artifacts piece by piece, compare and contrast the similarities and differences between ancient and modern life, and test their memory and problem solving skills.  In Roman Town, players tour Roman buildings, interact with artifacts and talk to ancient Romans.

With Roman Town, your students will learn detailed, historical information about Roman daily life in 79AD and the contributions the Romans made to art, architecture, language and more.  The Educator's Manual (included free with the Teacher's Edition) provides background information for lessons on the science of archaeology and Roman History.  Roman Town conforms to Standards of Learning and Curriculum Mandates for Language Arts and Social Studies.
